ROLE

The Nutrition field assistant is to support the implementation of the Nutrition component in Borno state.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

The post holder will receive a context-specific ToR for each deployment, which will draw upon the responsibilities outlined below.

Programme Support (typically will be at field level):


Support the implementation of all CMAM and IMAM activities in the implementing communities and outreach sites.
Conduct active case finding through MUAC screening to identify SAM/MAM cases, complications, non-responders, and referrals to SC.
Conduct training of caregivers on Mother-led MUAC screening of Children 0-59 months of age and subsequently carry out follow-up visits to the trained to ensure screening is done accurately and documented.
Conduct caregiver training on the Tom-Brown approach and monitor the utilization of the product by the caregivers for their MAM children.
Compile and submit progress reports daily to the nutrition officer through the community supervisor who is your direct line manager.
Liaison with Community Nutrition Mobilizers to provide effective follow-up of all SAM and MAM cases; particularly tracing of children who are absent from the program, defaulted or not gaining weight.
Directly supervise the activities of the community volunteers during sensitization and clinic activities
Provide technical support for IYCF lead Mothers during IYCF activities such as food demonstrations, and support group meetings with relevant IYCF key messages.
Support CNMs Conduct Monthly Home visits to ensure hygiene and sanitation and IYCF positive practices are being practiced by the caregivers.
Perform other responsibilities assigned to him/her by superiors.
Report progress and problems promptly.
Liaise with other partners [especially local authorities] and other stakeholders [returnees, host community, local leaders, on food security-related issues
Professionally represent EYN at all times
Ensure distribution data are filled accurately and submitted to your line manager daily. 
Any other duties that may be assigned related to the implementation of the BHA program in the implementing locations.

QUALIFICATION:


B.sc/HND/ND in Agriculture, food and nutrition, Agric Economics, Agric Extension & Management, or any related field from a certified tertiary institution with at least 2 (two) years of proven experience in Nutrition work.
Exceptional customer service skills
Excellent knowledge of the Nigerian context
Excellent reporting skills
Excellent communication and diplomatic skills, including writing skills
Computer proficiency (word, excel, and internet) 
Good analytical skills, at ease with figures and economic data
Proven experience working in an office environment.
Working knowledge of CMAM/IYCF/IMAM.
