Job Summary
• The Veterinary Officer will provide clinical, preventive and advisory veterinary services. • The Officer will lead disease surveillance and control initiatives, train farm staff and ensure veterinary public health compliance.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct farm visits to diagnose and treat poultry diseases • Lead diseases prevention programmes, including vaccination schedules and biosecurity planning • Investigate disease outbreaks and liaise with the Veterinary Services Directorate (VSD) when needed • Collect samples and interpret laboratory results in collaboration with diagnostic labs • Maintain detailed farm health records and prepare technical reports • Train poultry farmers on best practices in flock health management • Ensure compliance with veterinary and animal health laws and policies • Collaborate with veterinary technicians, lab personnel and external partners on poultry health matters
Qualification Required & Experience
• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from a recognized university • Must be registered with the Veterinary council of Ghana • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of post-qualification experience in poultry health • Sound knowledge of poultry diseases, vaccinations and treatments • Proficiency in MS Office and report writing • A valid driver's license is an added advantage
