Task Description

Sets up and operates Shear to cut metal sheets such as plates etc to specified dimensions and angles. Turn the hand wheels to adjust the rake and pressure of the blade.
Position and clamp stops and side guides to set length and angle of cut, using rule, built-in gauges. Or template.
Lifts the workpiece manually to the machine bed or roller table and positions it against the side guide and end stops.
Starts machine which clamps workpiece and lowers the blade to cut metal sheet.


Sets up and operates Hand tool machines to assemble different Save80 fabricated parts in sheet metal plates into a completed product line with an approved flow diagram and job description.
Position and clamp work pieces together to set the length and position of assembling parts, using rule, and built-in gauges. or template.
Lays out cutting and assembling lines on fabricated parts, using rule, square, or template when shearing single pieces.
Assembling the parts together using different hand tools as specified and arrangement completed/assembled Save80 stoves for onward movement to the store or warehouse.
Inspect work, using tape, compass, gauge, template, or micrometre to verify dimensions.
May be designated to work on other machines as the need arises.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reading and interpretation of blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and method of punching, bending and assembling, including machine adjustment and materials requirements per engineering requirements.
Set up, adjust, and perform minor maintenance on machines and hand tool equipment.
Utilize and manages inventory storage and retrieval system.
Effective management of time sheets and operation schedules to organize and maintain production standards.
Measurement of work piece dimensions to determine the accuracy of any machine operation.
Stack, mark, and transport finished parts to maintain proper workflow.
Maintenance of the 5S program as part of the planned Lean Management of the plant, for the production work area.
Training of new production line workers on the machines, procedures, safe work practices and any pertinent items regarding safety, quality, and production.
Identification and rework of defective work pieces as pointed out by quality personnel to comply with quality standards.
All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

National Diploma or Trade Test III in any engineering course.
3 years minimum work experience.
Ability to use hand tools and measuring equipment such as tape measure, calliper, etc.
Previous experience in a production/assembly plant especially in a steel work plant and the use of bending, punching and shear machines or as a fork-lift driver is desirable for this role.
Training would be provided on the work/task to be done.

Working Hours: Full-time work hours are 40 hours per week [Monday to Friday]. Extra hours may be required to meet production targets and could also involve some weekend work. Extra hours will be remunerated.
