Hi! I work at a big company and have always wanted to run my own project with my own team. Recently, a manager quit, and his project is being given to me. BUT! I think it might be a “sinking ship”. If I take it and things go badly, it could hurt my career, I might even have to quit, like Linda Yaccarino.
Do you think I should take this promotion?

    There will always be challenges. Maybe the test is to see if you have the courage to try. Sometimes the adverse situations are not there to see if you... will fail but if you are willing to fight for your dreams. The right opportunity can pass us by while we are waiting for the perfect situation. These are just my thoughts.     "Evaluation" is distinct element of the project management cycle. His departure is a logical juncture to seek an updated evaluation of the project. ... That way, you're at least establishing the baseline situation at the point you were given the project.  more

    Why are you contemplating a possible failure?. Even if you fail and have to quit , you have actually learnt how not to handle such a puzzle next time.... Go forward , life is replete with such puzzles, even in little things. The courage to take a plunge counts. Move. more

    I would take the opportunity and focus on how it could benefit your career if you succeed, rather than worrying about how it might hurt if you fail.... I’m confident you have what it takes to make it work — so go for it! Don’t let fear hold you back. Even if things don’t go exactly as planned, this experience could still open the door to something even better. more

    People don't quit for no reason. Stay far away that project as possible. Who knows what mistakes lie within the previous pesron.

    You should go for it, not because you are 100% assured of success, but because you shouldn't be afraid to fail. So you either fail trying or do... nothing at all. plus, its part of life more
