Our client, a hotel based in Nairobi, is seeking a highly organized and customer-focused individual to join their team as a Restaurant Cashier. This role is integral to ensuring smooth operations and accurate financial transactions within the restaurant. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising restaurant waiters, reconciling daily cash receipts and M-pesa transactions, and maintaining precise records of financial transactions. Responsibilities:
1. Cash Handling and Reconciliation:
• Receive cash and other forms of payment from restaurant customers and process transactions accurately.
• Ensure proper verification and reconciliation of daily cash receipts, including M-pesa transactions.
• Maintain accurate records of cash collections, credit card transactions, and other payment methods.
• Reconcile daily cash collections to bank records, resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.

2. Supervision of Restaurant Waiters:
• Provide supervision and guidance to restaurant waiters, ensuring they adhere to service standards and procedures.
• Coordinate and assign tables to waiters to optimize seating capacity and customer service efficiency.
• Monitor the performance of waiters, providing feedback, and addressing any performance issues.
• Collaborate with the restaurant management team to enhance customer satisfaction and service quality.

3. Customer Service:
• Process customer orders accurately, ensuring proper pricing and itemization.
• Handle customer payments efficiently and provide appropriate change or receipts.

4. Financial Reporting:
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on restaurant sales, cash collections, and other financial transactions.
• Provide accurate and timely financial information to the management team for decision-making purposes.
• Assist in inventory management, tracking food and beverage sales, and reporting on variances.

5. Compliance and Security:
• Adhere to all cash handling and security procedures to safeguard the restaurant's financial assets.
• Ensure compliance with internal control policies and regulations governing cash handling and financial transactions.
• Maintain confidentiality of customer information and financial records.

Requirements:
• Minimum of K.C.S.E. Additional education in finance or accounting is a plus.
• Proven experience as a cashier or in a similar cash handling role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
• Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail to accurately handle financial transactions.
• Proficiency in using electronic cash registers and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to handle customer inquiries and complaints in a professional manner.
• Strong supervisory and leadership abilities to effectively manage and guide restaurant waiters.
• Basic knowledge of financial reporting and the ability to prepare accurate reports.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
• Integrity and trustworthiness in handling cash and sensitive information.
• Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
