POSITION SUMMARY:
HIAS seeks to recruit an Adult Literacy Teacher who will offer basic education to refugees in the Safe House on temporary basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Offer basic education to refugees: focusing on basic literacy in English Speaking and writing skills.
Provide training using a curriculum jointly developed by the Centre Coordinator, the MHPSS Associate and the incumbent with modules on the approved literacy skills programs suitable for adults.
Determine beneficiaries’ progress on use of literacy skills.
Conduct assessment for new arrivals to determine their class of admission.
In liaison with other departments, assist in the organization and facilitation of capacity building activities for beneficiaries e.g., workshops, trainings, or information dissemination.
Prepare periodic and progress reports on the above-mentioned training services.
Attend periodic staff meetings.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a Diploma in Education
Background in English and Literature
Basic working knowledge with computer applications
Experience in community-based training and adult training.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Good knowledge of human rights doctrine and working experience with refugees and displaced persons will be an added advantage.
Knowledge of Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP)
Knowledge in Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA)
