Job Purpose    


Plans, leads and directs the strategic key performance areas and result indicators for the eThekwini Transport Authority Directorate.


Key Responsibility Areas    


Directs the Transportation Planning Operations strategy with respect to service delivery and defines, implements and monitors the short- term plans/objectives.
Directs and controls outcomes associated with utilisation, productivity, and performance of senior personnel within the eThekwini Transport Authority Directorate.
Prepares and analyse capital and operating estimates and controls expenditure against the approved capital and operating budget allocations.
Directs the evaluation and review of the Transportation strategy and policies against critical deliverables as identified in the Municipality’s Integrated Development Plan.
Directs and controls the professional, technical and operational outcomes with respect to core service delivery related transport projects/ infrastructure and services.
Manages the coordination and monitoring sequences associated with the assessment of transportation studies conducted.
Disseminates strategic functional and operational information on the immediate, short and long term objectives and current developments, problems, and constraints.
Directs specific administrative and reporting requirements associated with the key performance and result indicators of the functionality.

Essential Requirements    


Bachelors Degree (NQF Level 8) in Public Transport or Traffic Engineering or the Built Environment or any other related and equivalent qualification.
Professionally registered with the relevant professional body.
Valid motor vehicle driving license.
9 years relevant experience in the Public Transport or Traffic Engineering environment of which 5 years must be at a senior management level.


Preferred Requirements    


Postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 9) in Public Transport or Traffic Engineering or the Built Environment or any other related and equivalent qualification.
10 years relevant experience in the Public Transport or Traffic Engineering environment of which 6 years must be at a senior management level.
