Where have all the good candidates gone? The younger applicants show up with no work experience, yet are very ambitious and expect to step into managerial roles immediately. The older ones, on the other hand, seem worn out and out of touch. Where can I find capable, reliable employees?

They're mostly tired of being played into interviews yet the HR team already know their selected employees. Interviews these days are a way of just... ensuring compliance with auditors. After being tossed here and there, we decide to settle. more

  • It is true they lack experience not because they want but because the employers like yourself have denied them the chances or opportunities to learn... and develop the same experience you are looking for.Learn to believe that most people who lack experience in their fields are always eager and ready to learn because they understand where the experience can lead them.Give the unexperienced the opportunity to get experience! more

  • Hello Douglas,

I'd be happy to learn about the roles you are trying to fulfill. I am a job seeker.

  • There are so many good candidates around, capable and reliable Employees as well..

The challenge is most companies/management want good candidates,... capable and reliable , Even experienced but want to pay or reward them penants/poorly..

Just know any product/brand that is cheap, isn't durable and if its durable it must cost a price/expensive.. And if it is both cheap and durable you wont find it easily or get it on time..Incase you find/get it,it won't last -It will move to the highest bidder..

    Hope am making sense..

Just my Humble piece of opinion/Advice..

  • First there are tons of good young and old candidates out there. Unfortunately most will not get a chance to prove it. You have to patient and... determined and eventually it happens. Getting a job now seems to be about who you know or whether you belong to an organization that has connections. And to add salt to the wound the trend is forcing, yes forcing the younger generation to manufacturing gigs. Don’t get me wrong there’s opportunities in manufacturing if you can handle it, but today’s landscape has changed and is going to change even more. more

  • They became cynical. Trying to get a job once you have passed 48 is close to impossible. Corporate illogic prefers young employees that work for half... the seniors wage. If a senior is offered a job, which basically ends up being a manager, but without the title, is paid 70% it's worth, the best. So, suck it up!  more

  • It’s definitely a challenge many companies are facing right now. The workforce landscape has shifted, younger candidates often bring fresh ideas and... digital fluency but lack hands-on experience, while seasoned professionals sometimes struggle to adapt to rapid changes in technology or culture.
Finding capable, reliable employees today often means broadening where and how we recruit, looking for potential, not just experience. Partnering with local colleges, offering mentorship or apprenticeship programs, and emphasizing growth opportunities can attract motivated talent. For experienced workers, flexible schedules and re-skilling initiatives can reignite engagement and align their strengths with modern needs.
The key is balancing experience with adaptability, building a team that can both learn and lead.
