A reputable non-bank financial institution is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified person for the position of Accounts Officer
Job Summary
• The role ensures booking and pairing of remittances • The role also ensures processing and payment of claims for cedants • The role collaborates with credit control officer to ensure reconciliation of cedant balances
Job Duties / Responsibilities
• Verify all technical statements (facultative and treaty) to support documents • Validate arithmetical accuracy to supporting documents and ensure completeness before booking into technical software • Follow up on outstanding facultative and treaty premiums • Produce and dispatch debit notes and credit notes for Francophone partners • Process cheques and electronic transfers for approval and process authorized claims for francophone partners • Process approved claims for settlement by raising PVs and ensure PVs are duly audited internally • Capture remittances into SIC/NT for Francophone partners • Carry out pairing for Francophone partners and pass cross pairing journals as and when required • Collaborate with the credit controller to reconcile and send 2 statements of cedant balances per month • Reconcile partner balances in operational software to financial software for Francophone partners • Assist in preparing reports for Technical committee meetings • Assist in the preparation of quarterly production reports • Assist in the preparation of management and final accounts • Assist in the preparation of annual budget • Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time
Qualification Required & Experience
• Good University degree in Accounting or Finance • Proficient in both written and spoken French • Part qualified with ACCA, ICA or CIMA • Must have a minimum of 2 years of work experience especially in accounting • Experience in the insurance industry is a plus
