I had a strange interview at a big real estate company. The HR lady first asked me what settings I changed on my phone. I just made something up so I could answer. Then she asked when was the last time I lied. It felt like a trick question.
They said they would call me in a few days to tell me if I got the job, but I’m shocked and don’t think I passed. What would you say if they asked you about lying?
Thanks

  • As a 30 year licensed MD Realtor, I can attest that nationally we have surprisingly high standards for integrity and ethics. The lawsuits are caused... by those that ignore them. So I can see this being a question to test integrity.  more

  • And some HRs sometimes they ask funny questions for u to fail,

  • They wanted your honest. Myb you tensed and knew that you were lying. At times during the interview you get similar response until you say. Let me now... try a unique question. So they judged you with how you responded. more

  • You failed the test.
The first question 'What settings you changed . ....' was asked to check 'your ability to keep company's internal information... (including intlectual property) secret even if influencial client directly asked for it. Perhaps best reply could be, 'Sorry thats a personal question'. And second question was asked to check your ability 'to handle pressure created by real blames by client (about you lying). more

  • I question the maturity of anyone treating an interview like this. I think you replied well and maybe even are dodging a bullet if they pass

  • Tell the truth you never go wrong. No need to panic or be anxious - if the job is yours , you will get it.

  • You have the wrong mindset. they are not doing you a favor by hiring you. YOU are doing THEM a favor by offering to work and make money for them
