I was just rejected for a job because they said I used AI to answer the interview questions. But I didn't, so I'm confused. Do all employers assume everyone uses AI now?

  • We cannot assume that part though the question is, how do we ensure that the whole process doesn't have AI specs? They might as well have used AI to... craft the interview questions. more

  • What is AI, an oxymoron?

  • Do all employees assume?
    No.
    Does everyone uses Ai?
    No.
Does everyone use all inclusive vernacular?
No. But most do, so this it becomes artificial... imaginary language because you can only speak for yourself, not for others.
Your confusion might be the reason you didn't get the job.
If you didn't use Ai, why are you confused? Had you not used Ai, this would have been extremely easy to prove in a sit down interview.
When they accused you of using Ai, what did you say? Nothing, or did you speak eloquently and provide information without looking at your cell phone?

  • I think all employeers are obsessed with AI and can't see past it and assume you've used it.
Try calling and say you didn't, you never know

  • Or we should just ban Ai altogether. Why would most companies use Ai for their HR processes and projects and disparaging candidates from being Ai... savvy? If Ai is bad then we should call for its ban! It's really crazy dismissing someone for using Ai yet you use it in your processes...  more

  • I think the selection process for any competitive position has a number of steps, and candidates should be gauged using many parameters not just... answering questions on a computer. Therefore, the HR should be fair and subject the candidate to other elimination process for example oral interview and presentation etc by doing this you can appropriately gauge the competence of the candidate. Again, AI is now part of life, therefore its fair enough to warn candidates not to use AI in answering the questions.  more

  • That is too bad. I would decline it firmly once. Then tell them they should ask new questions to determine the quality of answers. If they say there... is not much time, I would remind them they have had the application for a while and had the time to prepare other questions if they wanted to. I would end with wishing them luck. more

  • that is very sad, I think AI will pop up on any thing you look at even if you don't use it

  • I was almost rejected for a job, becuase I didn't use AI ENOUGH! AI is a great tool. It can really speed up production.

  • Connect with me let's discuss about how you will land an interview successfully.

  • There are no jobs. They are collecting resumes.

  • I know this is unfortunate but this may very well be a blessing in disguise!! All jobs aren't for us. This sounds like an excuse not to hire you

  • Did you at all surf the Internet as to how best to prepare for interviewing? Did you search the company to seek what they look for in employees? In... other words, you may not have intentionally padded your responses, but something “canned” came through in the screening. Incidentally, many job coaches recommend knowing about the company for whom you want to be employed. It can be a Catch 22.  more

  • It's very likely that they used AI to determine this as well (with well known false positive rates).

  • This is sad. We are gradually living the robot life even in our thinking. Can you imagine now conflicting between AI and the real mind. But what... happened to those days of using search machines to read and prepare for exams and interviews and pass? My only concern is candidates using AI on the interview day, copying and pasting what they really can't defend, I think that is cheating.  more

  • I suppose using AI to answer interview questions that are historically redundant, biased, and don’t really tell you much about a candidates... capabilities isn’t a moral issue i.e. worth punishing people for. Many companies use AI to write their jobs posts (description of job, qualifications, etc) too so it seems hypocritical. I’ve used AI Detectors myself to test its accuracy. It’s inaccurate half the time and you can alter sentences and change tone and it’ll say it’s “completely human,” even though it was written by AI. These detectors aren’t reliable and an effective tool for “weeding out,” whatever it’s supposed to. For people with cognitive disabilities, large language models help them formulate their ideas and make them cohesive. I know there are many concerns about AI and its long term effects in the human brain but I also think that the interview process needs a lot innovation in how it measures talent and competence. Responding to questions, even without using AI, doesn’t guarantee that the person is being completely honest about their experience level. Potential candidates might embellish reality because they want a job. I think most people unconsciously enhance elements of their skills to make themselves more compelling. more

  • We tell people that AI cannot be used. I am an AI expert so I know when someone uses AI to answer the questions. They lie about it 100% of the time.... If your writing is coming up as AI and you say you didn’t use it, you should figure out why your writing style is the same as AIs and fix that. Do you use it so much that you’re writing like it now? more
