For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:


Served  for a minimum period of three (3) years at the grade of Assistant Director, Gender CSG 7;  
A Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: Gender Studies, Gender and Development, Sociology, Business Administration(Finance/Entrepreneurship Option), Anthropology, Counselling and Psychology, Economics, Law or any other Social Science from a University recognized in Kenya;
Certificate in either Gender Studies or Gender and Development, or any other relevant course lasting not less than four (4) weeks or four (4) weeks in aggregate from a recognized institution;
Demonstrated outstanding professional competence and managerial ability as re-flected in work performance and results.


Duties and Responsibilities 

Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:-


Drafting and interpreting policies in the area of jurisdiction;
Disseminating/sensitizing and implementing National Gender Action Plans;
Coordinating Gender Mainstreaming, Socio-Economic Empowerment programmes and projects, and activities geared towards elimination of Female Genital Mutila-tion (FGM) and Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV),
Designing and facilitating Programmes/Projects that promote Gender Equity;
Undertaking Research on Gender issues, including baseline survey on Female Geni-tal Mutilation and Gender –Based Violence;
Coordinating the development and interpretation of Gender Disaggregated Data and Management Information Systems;
Monitoring the implementation of Data related Funds and the prevalence of Fe-male Genital Mutilation and Sexual and Gender-Based violence;
Engaging and promoting partnership with stakeholders on Gender related mat-ters;
Participating and reporting on International and regional forums on Gender;
Coordinating, developing and implementing performance targets, Annual Work Plans and strategies for the section; and
Supervising, mentoring and developing officers in the Section.
