Job Description:

The Project Manager/Field Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing projects related to haulage operations, such as client-specific logistics projects, route expansions, and large-scale shipments. This role requires overseeing field activities, coordinating with drivers, monitoring cargo handling, and ensuring timely delivery and client satisfaction. The Project Manager will work closely with clients to understand their requirements and provide tailored logistics solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

The Project Manager develops project plans, budgets, and timelines in line with client requirements and company objectives. They coordinate and supervise activities in the field, including cargo loading, unloading, and delivery, while ensuring adherence to safety standards. Acting as the main point of contact for clients, they provide updates on project progress and resolve any issues. Risk management is a key aspect of the role; they identify potential risks (e.g., route issues, vehicle breakdowns) and develop contingency plans to minimize impact. Resource allocation involves assigning drivers, trucks, and fuel for projects to ensure efficient deployment of assets. The Project Manager oversees cargo handling and transport to ensure it meets quality and safety standards, preventing damage and loss. Accurate project records are maintained, with progress reports generated for internal and client review. They recommend and implement improvements to enhance service delivery, safety, and cost efficiency, and provide training to field staff on best practices, safety protocols, and client handling.

Requirements:

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, along with a minimum of 4 years in project management or field operations, with experience in the haulage or logistics industry. Proficiency in project management methodologies and software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Trello) is required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage risks and make quick decisions, are essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed for client interaction and reporting. A solid understanding of vehicle maintenance, route planning, and logistics software is also required. Attention to detail is crucial for accurate and efficient logistics operations. A PMP certification and knowledge of Nigerian transportation regulations and safety standards are preferred.
