Hi, I am a beginner in graphic design, although I graduated as a graphic designer, I'm having a hard time finding a job. Could you provide me with some good advice?

  • Start with web design, 5iver, and upstart to get experience. Once you have a decent portfolio of projects they will start coming.

  • Change your email address

  • Hello Dope Kid,
Am a fellow Graphics Designer though with extensive experience, about 15 years in the field.

    Advice:
    1. Think outside the box and... explore the option of building your own brand, with a design company/advertising agency. It may sound big today but that should be your primary target. The earliest you started out the better.
I don't know the rigours of registering a company in your country but make research about it, believe in yourself and start.
    2. Take enough time to build a trusted taste of your artworks with the contemporary trends. Practice them. Post them on the different platforms to build a clientele, even before you start the company.
    3. Register yourself with designer platforms like freepik, to explore brains behind great designs.

If you have no start-up capital, you can get a job; some people have proposed options for you on this platform, earn something and then use it to start on your big primary project.

But the MOST important thing is be honest and trustworthy with every single client you get. Great designers work best in the cool of the night when others are asleep.

  • One thing they fail to teach Graphic Designers in college is SALES. One of the best ways to sell projects is to network locally. Attend the Chamber... Mixers. Offer to speak and introduce your new service business (graphics) at local non-profit meetings. Get some business cards and leave a few on the counter everywhere you go. Keep selling even when you’re busy. Good luck. AI is not your friend. more

  • start your own graphics design business
it is not about you getting a job you have the skill and you however the graphics design thing runs

  • Get every certification that goes with your chosen career. Thst shows ability instead of just knowledge. Build a blog and or a facelfess YouTube... channel showcasing your work. Join 5er and similar websites so you have real-world experience. Try to get hired on with a non profit or a church. This will allow you to build years of experience and may even pay. Once you have enough resume food, they will bite.  more

  • Don’t look at titles, look at the job responsibilities. A title might say Marketing or Media specialist. Look and see what skills are needed and... how you align. Also become familiar with the major software packages. In the meantime, work on creating a graphic design portfolio to show your broad range of skills and post them on your professional LinkedIn page.  more
