This pivotal role will focus on supporting logistics and procurement processes in all the countries where we operate.
The successful candidate will be based in Kenya and will report directly to the Director of Supply Chain and logistics. The candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating the seamless procurement and logistics management of our technologies, and his responsibilities will include:


Responsibilities


Act as the interface between Hatch and suppliers, distributors, and logistics providers, ensuring smooth communication and issue resolution.
Oversee logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, distribution, clearing, and delivery, ensuring timely and efficient processes.
Track shipments from origin to destination, negotiating and managing freight quotes, shipping documents, inspections, and invoicing.
Ensure compliance with local and international logistics laws, import requirements, and safety standards.
Implement inventory management systems to maintain stock accuracy and availability.
Manage purchase orders, supplier communications, approvals, and updates, ensuring accurate pricing and delivery timelines.
Align logistics and procurement activities to optimize costs, improve lead times, and enhance supply chain performance.
Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Customer Support, and Finance) to meet organizational goals and customer needs.
Lead tender processes, evaluate bids, and recommend contract awards while ensuring legal compliance.
Coordinate smooth communication with the suppliers during the tender process and support Distributors with relevant information from the suppliers.
Monitor key metrics such as delivery performance, freight costs, inventory turnover, and budget adherence, providing regular reports to senior management in collaboration with the Director of Supply chain and logistics.
Support day-to-day logistics activities and perform periodic inventory counts.
Foster continuous improvement through process streamlining and technology adoption (e.g., ERP systems).
Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for logistics and procurement teams.
Handle additional tasks as identified by the Director of Supply Chain and Logistics.

Qualifications


Required education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related field.
A master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., CIPS, KISM) is a plus.
Experience: 5-7 years of experience in supply chain management, focusing on logistics and procurement.
Attention to detail is a MUST. This position requires numerous details, and keeping track of them is integral to successful performance
Strong interpersonal communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Must be efficient, organized, self-motivated, positive, and proactive.
Strong technical and data entry skills, specifically in Excel
Previous experience in logistics and procurement, particularly in Sub-Saharan African countries.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
General knowledge of medical devices and related documentation, specifically neonatal and maternal devices and accessories, is a plus
Adaptability and comfort in a fast-paced, startup environment where priorities can shift quickly

The Technical Implementation Lead will lead the strategic and technical implementation of Projects with an initial key focus on the current project Gates funded project, for distribution of CPAP and Pointof-Care Ultrasound (POCUS), across sub-Saharan Africa. They will work closely with the Clinical and
Training Teams to ensure that lifesaving medical devices are effectively integrated into... national systems and aligned with the Ministry of Health (MOH) priorities and the Gates Foundation goals.
The Technical Implementation Lead will provide strategic direction, oversee program design and execution, and work with ministries, implementing partners, and country teams to ensure successful deployment, capacity building, and long-term sustainability of health technologies.


Core Responsibilities:


Strategic Leadership & Program Oversight
Lead the strategic planning and execution of maternal and neonatal health technology implementation across Hatch-supported countries.
Design, adapt, and oversee the technical workstream of programs, ensuring alignment with global best practices, local needs, and donor goals.
Work closely with senior leadership to inform country strategies, program models, and scaleup pathways for maternal and neonatal technologies.
Supervise and support the technical teams in implementation and facilitate strong coordination between them and the clinical, training, and MEL teams.


Technical Implementation & Systems Integration


Lead the full lifecycle of device implementation, from user needs assessments to, installation, calibration, and post-installation support.
Conduct or oversee health facility readiness assessments, including electrical, oxygen, infection prevention, and staffing requirements.
Establish and maintain preventive maintenance protocols and support distributors in building sustainable biomedical engineering capacity to support Hatch Technologies.
Identify and resolve device-related challenges by offering remote and on-site troubleshooting, coordinating with manufacturers where necessary.
Delivering Lifesaving Solutions for Newborns
Ensure quality assurance processes are in place for installation, ongoing use, and reporting of equipment-related issues.


Training & Capacity Building


Design and implement comprehensive training programs for biomedical users of CPAP and POCUS devices, including hands-on sessions, digital modules, and job aids.
Support the integration of CPAP and POCUS technical training into pre-service and in-service national curricula and ensure alignment with WHO standards and MOH protocols in all countries.
Build a pool of regional technical ToTs in all countries, providing ongoing mentorship and refresher training to promote self-sustaining capacity.
Lead the co-development of standard operating procedures, user guides, troubleshooting
checklists, and safety protocols for all implemented technologies.


Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Development


Build and sustain strategic relationships with Ministries of Health, global health institutions, donors, and country-level stakeholders to align implementation with national priorities.
Engage with professional associations (e.g., biomedical engineering societies) to promote local ownership and long-term sustainability.
Represent Hatch Technologies at national and global technical working groups, donor
meetings, innovation labs, and relevant global health conferences.


Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL)


Work with MEL teams to ensure technical indicators and learning questions are embedded in
program monitoring frameworks.
Lead or contribute to field data collection efforts on device usage, , and system-level barriers to inform real-time decision-making.
Support documentation of implementation learnings, case studies, and technical briefs to contribute to global knowledge and donor reporting.
Promote adaptive learning cycles, incorporating data insights into training updates, SOP revisions, and implementation refinements.

Qualifications:


Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Global Health, Public Health, or a related clinical or technical discipline.
Minimum 8 years of experience in global health program implementation, including experience managing technical programs in LMICs.
Proven expertise in deploying and supporting health technologies within health systems.
Demonstrated success in leading multi-country programs, managing technical teams, and collaborating with Ministries of Health and global stakeholders.
Experience in developing and delivering training and capacity-building programs for both clinical and technical audiences.
Strong understanding of donor-funded health programs, particularly those supported by the Gates Foundation.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and cross-cultural collaboration skills.
