This is the entry and training grade for this carder. An officer at this level will work under guidance and supervision of a senior office.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail: –


 Administering Fund application forms and targeting tools for beneficiaries of grants and cash transfers programmes
 Participate in targeting community... validation and enrollment of beneficiaries under PWSD-CT and administer the application process for education assistance, assistive devices and services, economic empowerment andinfrastructure and equipment
Conduct registration of persons with disabilities.
Supervise clerks/ Interns who work under them.
Call for and vet applications for education, economic empowerment grants, tools of trade, infrastructure, equipment grants, assistive devices, and submit the proposed beneficiaries to the headquarters.
Provide sunscreen lotions, cancer screening and treatment services, protective clothing and sensitization of self-care to persons with Albinism
Facilitate registration of companies and businesses of persons with disabilities under AGPO and provide them with LPO Financing
Train economic empowerment beneficiary groups on entrepreneurship.
Facilitate delivery of cheques of grants and bursaries groups and schools respectively.
Assisting the local communities and self-help groups to identify viable projects.
Mobilize local resources for the implementation of development projects;
Assisting the communities develop Community Action Plans (CAPs)
Link PWDs and DPOs with other development partners.
Monitor implementation of Registration, Rehabilitation &, HabilitationEducation assistance, Infrastructure & Equipment support, Economic Empowerment & Enterprise Development, Cash Transfer and Disability Mainstreaming programmes, advise and report on the progress Conflict resolutions among group members disaggregate data on gender, disability, age etc.
Participate in community mobilization and sensitization on programmes of the Council.
Facilitate persons with disabilities access tax exemptions, licenses and employment service extension recommendation.
Organize National and International events on Disability at the County levels.
Create awareness on disability, programmes and services offered by the Council.
Lobby and advocate for implementation of 5% constitutional provision on appointive and elective positions in public and private entities.
Monitor compliance on the 5% constitutional provision on appointive and elective positions by public and private entities.

Provide technical support on disability mainstreaming in form of training, accessibility audits, job placement requirements to public and private


Requirements for Appointment


Bachelor’s degree in a relevant social science from a recognized institution;
Professional qualification where applicable;
Four (4) years’ work experience in a relevant experience;
Fulfill the requirements of chapter six in the constitution

Carry out routine checks on the vehicles;
Detect and report malfunctioning of vehicles system;
Maintain records of vehicles;

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

KCSE D+ or equivalent from a recognised institution;
Valid driving license
Trade Test for Drivers Grade III
First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from a recognized institution

Job Purpose
An officer in this position will work under a Senior Officer to provide interpreting and translating services for deaf and hard of hearing stakeholders, staff and clients of NCPWD in a variety of settings
Duties and Responsibilities

Perform a wide variety of Kenyan Sign Language (KSL) interpretation in a variety of settings which includes all NCPWD departments, Board meetings,... staff meetings, field trips, workshops, trainings, seminars, conferences, international conferences and events, and other organizational settings when needed.
Coordinate the development and implementation of a training plan for teaching staff on KSL and provision of the training and regular sensitization to the staff on basic Kenyan sign language skills.
Obtain and review the material containing the information to be interpreted and conduct research on technical information or complex information to gain an understanding of what will be interpreted.
Coordinate and participate in the vetting, processing and validation of the potential sign language interpreters.
Participate in the preparation of the enrolment criteria for the sign language interpreters into the national database.
Any other duty as may be assigned.

Requirements for Appointment

Diploma in the following disciplines; Communications, Sociology, Deaf studies, linguistics, or equivalent from a recognized institution;
Certificate in Computer Application Skills;
Certification from a recognized interpreter certification body;
The role requires at least two (2) years of cumulative Sign Language Interpreting experience.
