Finance Management and Operations 


Support regional financial operations by ensuring that proper internal controls, finance policies, systems, and procedures are being followed.
Support the Nairobi office annual budget preparation and reprojection process.
Support the office operations team to track and monitor spending related to the Center’s office budget, reviewing budgeted to actual... expenditures monthly to ensure that spending is in line with budget allocations. 


Expense and Payment Management


Undertake and monitor all payments, ensure smooth, timely issuing of payments and that all financial transactions in the region including of projects, are in line and comply with Centre for Reproductive Right’s policies and within the regional authorization limits. 
 Review expense reports, process staff advances, reconciliations, and reimbursements for payable and receivable accounts, following up with applicable parties internally to ensure successful processing.  
Coordinate timely payments for invoices, bills, payroll, and statutory payments, auditing all transactions for accuracy. 
Post all payments according to the right codes in the center’s finance system.


Accounting and Banking


Ensure the accuracy of the organizational accounting records in the various accounting systems and on SharePoint.
Monitor cash flow and liquidity, identifying and addressing any discrepancies or issues
Assist in managing the Center’s bank accounts with the support from AD Global Operations.
On a monthly basis, providing the Head office with documentation in support of incoming transfers and inter account transfers
Ensure month-end closings and bank reconciliations are timely and accurate and update the computerized accounting software. 


Payroll Management


Coordinate components of the organization's payroll processes, including reviewing payroll schedules for accuracy, facilitating internal approvals, and maintaining accurate records while ensuring compliance with local laws and tax obligations. 


Finance Reporting and Compliance


Coordinate the financial reporting process with applicable internal and external parties, ensuring that all deadlines required by local agencies are met.
Review financial reporting submissions for accuracy and upon completion, record submissions into the Center's books.
Overall assistance with adherence to local statutory compliance requirements, including vendor tax withholdings, including monthly and annual financial statements and annual tax filings, etc. 
Support the completion of the annual audit and tax returns.
Update documents in the Organization document management platform-SharePoint 


Requirements


Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration is required. 
Professional qualification in accounting, CPA(K), ACCA or equivalent is desired.
A minimum of five years of professional experience in accounting and budgeting with experience working at an International Organization, Non-Governmental Organization, Donor Agency, or Embassy is required. 
Thorough knowledge of professional accounting principles, theory, practices, and terminology regarding accounting and experience developing, managing, and analyzing large and complex operating budgets. 
Extensive experience working with computerized accounting systems, including familiarity with use of scalable Enterprise Resource (ERPs) and other e-based communication channels and tools.
Prudent judgment is required in the interpretation and application of appropriate regulations to a wide variety of situations and the incumbent must also be aware of the types of situations and problems which they must refer to their supervisor.

Primary Responsibilities:


Oversee the day-to-day activities of the VP’s office including providing the delivery of quality, high-level administrative support specifically regarding meeting preparation/follow-up. S/he will organize the VP’s meetings (both virtual and in-person) and manage the daily schedule of the VP, ensuring that she knows her schedule (appointments and meetings) 24 hours... in advance and amendments are done whenever necessary. S/he will also keep the VP well informed about upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately and keeping her appraised and updated.
Manage the VP’s calendar to reflect strategic priorities and help in effective time management and manage an extremely active and dynamic calendar of appointments; coordinate activities, such as conferences, field visits, internally and externally organized workshops and other tasks that facilitate the VP’s ability to lead the Africa Program.
Assume responsibility for the overall planning, execution, and related logistics for the VP’s travel schedule. The incumbent will organize arrange complex and detailed travel plans, trip planning calls with internal/external stakeholders, develop written, detailed schedules, confirm travel plans and appointments, manage all related transportation and lodging plans, complete expense requests and reports; itineraries, agendas, and compile documents for travel-related meetings.
Ensure the VP is prepared for all internal and external meetings through oversight and organization of all briefing memos, remarks, and request/prepare agendas in advance; assist with and provide research/background information, content development, and creation of presentations; coordinate meetings and take meeting notes. S/he will also on own initiative process/compose correspondence/reports for the VP and prepare correspondence that is confidential.
Serve as liaison between VP and Africa Program Units as well as other departments, attend meetings, develop agendas, record minutes, maintain records, monitor action items, and follow-up and follow through on pending meeting notes, correspondence, and key actions and ensure seamless communication with all relevant parties as appropriate.
Manage the information flow in and out of the VP’s Office (manage the VP’s inbox and incoming email) and prioritize for attention and drafting responses as appropriate and screen and prioritize communications as appropriate.
Manage external contacts for the VP, proactively understanding who they are, which are the priority contacts, and keeping track of periodic communication needed for priority contacts.
Prioritizes conflicting needs, handles matters expeditiously and proactively, and follows through on project requests for successful completion, often with deadline pressures.
Collaborates with internal and cross-functional teams, external parties as well as communicates effectively with all levels of employees and external contacts.
The incumbent may be called upon from time to time to back stop the Executive Assistant to the Chief Programs Officer or support other program teams as delegated by the VP.

The Role:

Conduct full-cycle high-volume recruitment for roles including video screen interviews and panel interviews on both the Center’s legal and non-legal roles

Primary Responsibilities: Legal Strategies, Innovation & Research Legal Fellows support the Center’s global priorities and are responsible for legal and policy analysis on a variety of global reproductive rights issues, including by:

Conducting legal and policy research and analysis on international and regional human rights law, as well as comparative national-level law;
Assisting in the development and drafting of fact sheets, articles, and other advocacy documents positioning reproductive rights as fundamental human rights;
Supporting thought leadership initiatives to advance key reproductive rights issues globally;
Conducting legal research and analysis on national-level abortion laws to advance the Center’s groundbreaking World Abortion Laws Map;
Engaging with legal experts across the Center to support the development and operationalization of legal principles on key reproductive rights topics, including abortion, maternal health, assisted reproduction and capacity and consent;
Providing technical assistance to other teams at the Center, as well as to partner non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other stakeholders, and;
Using editing skills to assist with blue booking and fact-checking of reports, petitions, shadow letters, and other documents, as needed.

Assisting in conducting legal and policy research and analysis on policies, laws, and decisions that impact sexual health and reproductive rights (SRHR) within the African region as well as global international human rights law and comparative law developments likely to impact SRHR in Africa;

Stay up to date with reproductive rights litigation and human rights litigation with high impact in the field of reproductive rights, as well as relevant emerging reproductive rights issues; identify opportunities for the Center to contribute to the development of emerging legal norms.

The Role:
The Director of Compliance is a critical member of the Center’s Office of the General Counsel (OGC). The Director of Compliance is also a leader within the Center’s cross-departmental team that oversees all aspects of the Center’s grants process, from solicitations to award implementation, partnerships, and program monitoring.



The Director of Compliance will have two overarching... responsibilities. First, the Director of Compliance will contribute to the work of the OGC to ensure that Center staff across the organization meet or exceed their obligations under applicable laws, Center policies, and industry best practices. The Director of Compliance will help create and strengthen Center policies and processes, conduct trainings for Center staff and partners, and develop methods for monitoring and auditing compliance.



Second, the Director of Compliance will be chiefly responsible for the Center’s compliance with donors’ rules and regulations. The Director of Compliance will provide support and guidance to Center staff and partners regarding donor-related obligations. Among other things, the Director of Compliance will contribute to prospective donor analyses and assessments, conduct due diligence in response to donor requirements or requests, and create systems, tools and processes to ensure compliance with donor rules and regulations at every stage of the award lifecycle.



The Director of Compliance will further take on special project and assignments as requested by the General Counsel.
Primary Responsibilities:



Center Compliance Generally

Contribute to the work of the OGC to ensure that the Center and its staff meet or exceed obligations under applicable laws, Center policies and industry best practices.
Create and strengthen Center policies and procedures, especially those relevant to grant eligibility and compliance.
Develop and conduct trainings for Center staff and partners regarding Center policies and/or donor-related obligations.
Create methods to monitor and audit compliance with Center policies and donor rules and regulations.
Assist the OGC from time to time in responding to claims or investigations concerning potential noncompliance with Center policies or donor-related obligations.
Special projects as designated by the Center’s General Counsel.

Grants Compliance

Play a leadership role in the Center’s cross-departmental team that oversee grants.
Maintain deep understanding and mastery of donor regulations and policies.
Advise and support Center staff and partners with respect to donor-related obligations during all phases of the grants process, including but not limited to:
Solicitation and Propose Phase
Conduct analyses and assessments of donors, principally to determine the Center’s eligibility and ability to comply with donor rules and regulations.
Review solicitations and proposals, principally to provide assurance that the Center can and will meet any compliance obligations and to develop evidence of responsibility on the part of the Center or its partners.
Review pre-award partnership and teaming agreements.
Award and Implementation Phase
Review donor contracts and award agreements, principally to identify terms and conditions that present compliance risk or challenges.
Propose revisions to donor contracts and award agreements and advise Center staff regarding negotiations with the donors.
Elevate to the OGC terms that present risk to the organization or partners.
Interface with donors, as necessary, to address concerns or disagreements regarding award terms and conditions.
Develop and/or revise Center policies and procedures to conform to donor-related obligations, ensure compliance with donor rules or regulations, and/or expand eligibility for new funding opportunities.
Lead and/or assist in the development of award “kick-off” materials and tools to guide Program staff responsible for implementing the grant.
Conduct trainings for Center staff and partners regarding compliance obligations.
Develop and/or maintain materials and tools regarding the Center’s relationships with partners, including template partnership agreements and partner collaboration and assessment tools.
Support and guide Center staff regarding all aspects of partnerships, including partner selection, partner compliance assessments, partnership agreements and amendments, partner training and capacity building, partner monitoring and reporting, and partnership terminations and close-outs.

The annual salary for this position is KES 11,400,000. This salary is reflective of a position based in Nairobi. This salary will be subject to a locality adjustment, if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting. Note that most of the salaries listed on our job postings reflect New York, NY salaries, where our National offices are headquartered.
