"I first met Ted when I was volunteering at Valley State Prison to play in a basketball league against incarcerated individuals. Ted stood out with his 6'8, or however tall he is, stature and I was Immediately relieved to see he was on our team. Ted did not disappoint. He would go on to score a total of 38 points and 22 rebounds and drop the occasional assist. Despite us losing to the Valley State team, Ted showed absolute heart and determination to make sure he at least made his impact.

After letting everyone know purely and exclusively through his game that he was a top dawg, Ted then led the entire gym, what felt like almost 100 people, in a prayer session... and so we all prayed together. Arms around the shoulders of strangers... guards, inmates, formerly incarcerated, everyone together in spirit; and while I myself do not pray, in that moment I understood how Ted was helping bring us together.

After the game, I spoke to Ted and learned that we worked in adjacent industries. I would go on to make good acquaintances with Ted, where he would be a connector of people and opportunity exposing me to entire communities I did not know existed.
