Mr. Sura Degefu received his Msc. degree in Agriculture and Applied Economics from the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) and graduated from Haramaya University in 2023, and his B.Sc. degree in Agricultural Economics from Addis Ababa University, graduating in 2017. Currently, he is an associate researcher at the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR).

Mainly involved in project planning, monitoring, evaluation, reporting, data management, capacity building, knowledge management, and learning activities. Specifically:
1. Assists field staffs in developing regular data collection format, in field supervision, and data base maintaining
2. Support and conduct project monitoring and supportive supervision at operational sites of the project
3. Participates in and organizes meetings with Implementing partner and other stakeholders for joint monitoring and coordination
4. Participates in project start-up surveys and assessments, including project bassline evaluation, mid-term evaluation, end line evaluation, and outcome evaluation
5. Participates in the development and revision of different plans and reports
6. Leading the role for preparation of dip implementation plan of the project and breaking down for each operational locations
7. Assists, preparing and submitting government and externally funded project reports
8. Provides reporting feedbacks to the project staffs and implementing partners
9. Collects and provides information and technical support in the preparation of quarterly or biannual reports
10. Ensures the implementation of project performance monitoring plan
11. Identifies indictors which are reliable for data quality assessments
12. Ensures all project and partner staff uses the same and latest versions of data collection and reporting forms.
13. Supports and produces monthly, quarterly, semiannually and annually project tabular reports by reconciling with the narration reports.
14. Analyzes plan versus achievements of the project and identify justifications for under achievements or over achievements.
15. Supports development of digital management system in providing relevant inputs and indicators
16. Processing digitally stored data for different users in various reporting formats as needed
17. Manages routine data, including data cleaning and entry to ensure completeness and quality
18. Ensures all devices that will be used for direct participant monitoring system are functional with correct programming and are available for use.
19. Ensures effectiveness and adequacy of systems to track flow of information on inputs utilization and project participation, including the process of beneficiary selection and project prioritization;
20. Ensures all the data’s of the project is collected, cleaned, stored , reported and documented properly
21. Updates the program information system on regular basis.
22. Assists the field program staffs and implementing partners in organizing M&E related capacity building workshops/trainings to stakeholders and indirect participants of the project.
23. Coach and mentor the front line staff on how to handle apparatus/tablets for data collection
24. Assists and produces success stories , rolling profiles, and most significant change stories
25. Organizes and participates on learning events and experience sharing
26. Accomplishing different socio-economic research, cost benefits analysis, demonstrating and popularizing new technologies to farmers.
