General Manager of the private non-profit Foundation ICAMCyL: International Research Center in Advanced Materials and Raw Materials of Castilla y Leon. General Manager and Executive member of the Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster Spanish chair as Member State in the Operational Groups within the EC European Innovation Partnership in Raw Materials, named by the Spanish permanent Embassy in Brussels. Founder and former Director of the ICCRAM: Int. Research Center in Critical Raw Materials for Advanced Industrial Technologies within University of Burgos. Director of the Advanced Materials, Nuclear tech. and Applied Nanotech. Dept. Awarded Doctor Honoris Causa in September 2021 by the University of Miskolc (Hungary) in view of his contribution to internationalisation of the University in EU arena, EU projects and scientific contribution to advanced singular materials. Awarded as Physicist of Excellence by the National College of Physics in 2019, in view of his achievements as profesional, and his international career on innovation. Dr. S.Cuesta has been also awarded with the National Prize of SNE for young researchers (2003), the postdoctoral prize “Marcel-Merieux/ENS-Lyon” region Rhône-Alpes (2006), and the prize for ICFRM extreme Materials (Sapporo-2009). He has obtained the "Ramón y Cajal" grant (2009), and has been awarded in 2013 by the Spanish Ministry of Economy with the "Intensification in research" mention (I3-materials engineering). He has been part of relevant executive positions, like: the EU Circular Economy Investment Alliance, the EU NANOFUTURES steering committee as Chairman of the Working Group on Critical Raw Materials. Different pannels of experts across ERAMIN program, or the Strategic Expert Group (SEG) for M- ERANET - EU-Commission - and takes part of the Management Committee of EU COST CRM_EXTREME OC-2015-1-19345. He has been member of the international committee ISO/AENOR CTN 73 "Nuclear energy, nuclear technologies, and radiological protection". Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA-OECD). Up to now, partner, co-responsible or director for more than 50 funded projects at EU-wide (FP5/6/7, H2020), National level (MINECO/MICINN – Spain, ANR – France) or private industry. From 2016, he has attracted more than 100 EU projects,having as global result a mobilisation of > 800 M € He has authored/co-authored more than 80 JCR publications and 80 technical communications to industry.
