"I was especially impressed with my daughter’s trainer after watching their session yesterday. Taylor came onto the court not really giving her best effort and, if I’m being honest, she seemed a little lazy and unmotivated. But her trainer did not allow her to give less than what he knew she was capable of.

He continued to push her, held her accountable, and made her restart drills when she didn’t complete them correctly. Of course, Taylor wasn’t happy about it and there were some tears. What impressed me the most was how he handled that moment. He stopped, acknowledged and addressed her emotions, gave her a moment to get herself together, and then put her right back on the court to finish what she started.

As her mom, I really appreciated seeing that balance. He didn’t embarrass her or dismiss her feelings, but he also didn’t allow her emotions to become a reason to quit. He showed her that she can be frustrated, she can have feelings, and she can still finish the job.

That’s bigger than basketball to me. He’s teaching her discipline, accountability, perseverance, and how to push through when something gets hard. I walked away from yesterday’s session extremely impressed with the way he coached and handled Taylor. 🏀❤️"
