I am Rebecca Rikoine Sompio, a communication graduate from St. Paul’s University, Kenya. I also hold a diploma in Public Relations from the University of Nairobi, which gave me a strong foundation in communication, public engagement, and building good relationships with people. My journey has not been easy. I come from a humble background, and I worked hard to save money to continue with my studies. I love communication because it allows me to connect with people, create strong relationships, and bring positive change in organizations and communities. I have more than eight years of experience in customer service, tourism, and corporate communication. I started my career at Mada Hotels from 2015 to 2020, where I worked as a front office staff member, handling guests and ensuring they were satisfied. From 2020 to 2023, I worked as a Customer Service Manager at Oltome Safaris, managing client communication and improving the company’s image in the tourism sector. Recently, I worked with East Africa Portland Cement, where I used my communication skills to improve internal communication, coordinate public relations, and help build the company’s reputation. Now that I have finished my degree, I am looking for opportunities in communication, public relations, corporate communications, or media relations where I can use my skills and experience. I am especially interested in roles that deal with strategic communication, brand management, and working with different stakeholders. I want to grow my career and gain more exposure, even internationally, to become more competitive in the global job market. I am also passionate about youth empowerment and social change, and I hope to use my communication skills to make a positive impact in organizations and communities.
