"The first thing that I remember Pete saying is that "we are one another's equal" and the we were in a space of free, open and respectful contestation. Pete is a scholar who truly walks the talk. Although the space in the colloquia at the Mercatus center can feel quite intimidating and uncomfortable, Pete has time and again created an environment where junior scholars like myself could engage on a serious and constructive debate about political economy, even if we did not agree with the readings or main ideas. I have appreciated Pete for his energetic and engaging approach and for inviting us all to consider how the Austrian, Virginia, and Bloomington schools of political economy can contribute to our own works.
