Work experience
  • August, 2022 - November, 2022
  • Fulltime
  • As a research intern, I participated in Biomedical research works during my time of internship.
  • Bioinformatics and Genomics was the core part of the research, in which I make use of Bioinformatics tools for designing of mRNA vaccine for Sars CoV-2, and other diseases.
  • I used Bioinformatics tools to also analyze genome of bacteria, to research about their antimicrobial resistance.
  • I also participated in other wet laboratory work as well, such as experimental animal handling and harvesting of their organs.

Education
  • As a Biochemistry student, I learnt about biomolecules and how they can affect health both in physiological state and pathological conditions.
  • Forensic science was part what I was thought, in which its application is crucial during medico-legal cases.
  • I learnt about Nutritional Biochemistry and its application in food industries.
  • I learnt about Industrial Biochemistry, where I practical carried out some small scale production and packaging of food products such as yogurt through the process of fermentation.
  • I learnt about Biotechnology, where the application is of great importance in the current science world, for environmental toxicants monitoring, Gene manipulation, development of certain crop type for farmers and horticulturist. Also, for the treatment of disease conditions e.g cancer. Part of the Biotechnology is the development of drug from medicinal plants, which I found interesting and intriguing.
  • Toxicology was part of what I was thought, where I learnt about the pollutants in our environment and how they can be so toxic to health, likewise, their control measures.
  • Finally, my undergraduate research seminar was based on environmental toxicants and how they got into environment.
  • My undergraduate research project was about heavy metal and how they can affect different organs of the body and the ameliorating effects of medicinal plant on the heavy metal, through the use of animal model.

Work experience
  • August, 2021 - December, 2021
  • Fulltime
  • As a student intern at special diagnostic center, pathology department, UCH, Ibadan, I participated in research work with the use of molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, Gel electrophoresis, and others.
  • I extracted DNA from whole blood,, dried blood, tissue, using kits. I also learnt about how to store the DNA and the whole blood sample for further downstream applications.
