  • My coworker confided that they're having an affair with our manager. I'm not involved, but I know the manager controls promotions and bonuses. Do I stay out of it or report it?

Depends on the company policy. If this violates ethics turn them in to ethics department and then to HR. If this is more of a mom and pop store that... employs relatives, leave it alone. This factor will determine what to do and will either protect or destroy your career at this place of business. I hate it when this happens and sorry you have to deal with knowing. Especially if it seems as if your personal job performance was affected in any way. If its the latter, I'd move on to a "real job" with a "real company" just as soon as possible. It is understandable that you are seeking guidance on how to proceed. Navigating workplace situations can sometimes be complex. Ensuring that all actions align with established company policies is always a prudent approach. If you believe there may be an ethical concern, following the outlined procedures for reporting such matters is recommended. These channels are in place to address sensitive issues appropriately. more
