As a data scientist analyzing venture capital investment and startups, my primary responsibilities involve developing machine learning models to predict the success of startups and putting these models into production. This includes tasks such as:
Data cleaning: In order to build accurate models, it is important to ensure that the data is clean, complete, and free of errors. This may involve removing duplicates, filling missing values, or removing outliers.
Web scraping using Beautiful Soup: Gathering relevant data on startups and investment can be a time-consuming task. I may use web scraping tools such as Beautiful Soup to automate the collection of data from relevant sources such as social media platforms, news websites, and investment databases.
Developing machine learning models: Using statistical and machine learning techniques, I develop predictive models to identify factors that contribute to startup success. This includes feature engineering, model selection, and hyperparameter tuning to ensure that the models are accurate and reliable.
Putting models into production: Once the models have been developed, I work with the engineering team to deploy them into production. This includes designing and implementing an API to make the models accessible to end-users, as well as monitoring their performance and making improvements as necessary.
Overall, my role as a data scientist involves working with large and complex datasets, applying statistical and machine learning techniques, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver actionable insights and drive business impact.
