Nalova Akua is 2022 winner of the Michael Elliott Award for Excellence in African Storytelling. The winning entailed a cash prize, a reporting grant, a personalized crystal award as well as a customized professional development program at The Economist headquarters in London. In 2021, Nalova was among the five best young journalists from across Africa selected to attend and cover the Global Landscapes Forum as Climate Tracker Media Fellows which came with a long form storytelling grant. Nalova's works have also appeared on the environment solutions feature section of BBC Future, at BBC Global News; Euronews Green, the European platform for environmental news and green views; The Epoch Times, which is the only multi-national newspaper that spans the entire globe; Zenger News, the world's first digitally native wire service; and African Arguments a pan-African platform for news, investigation and opinions. Nalova also writes stories giving a ground-level perspective on the biggest health challenges for Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. He has distinguished himself in the increasingly competitive media industry by writing stories that serve society, articles that give a voice to the unheard, and writing that puts the spotlight on issues that would otherwise have remained in the shadows.
