Forensic Pathologist & Medico-Legal Expert | Head of Autopsy and clinical examination division/ Ex-Head of Identification, IFM Kosovo | Missing Persons & Human Rights; Senior forensic pathologist and medico-legal expert specializing in autopsy practice, injury assessment, and identification of missing persons in post-conflict contexts. Leads national-level identification and coordination at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Kosovo. Dr. Naim Uka is a forensic pathologist and legal medicine scholar whose work focuses on medico-legal death investigation, human identification, and the intersection of forensic science with international humanitarian and human rights law. He served as Head of the Division for Identification, Coordination, and Support at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Ministry of Justice, Kosovo. He holds an MD and a PhD in Law, with doctoral research examining the influence of international law on missing persons and the right of families to know the fate of the disappeared. His academic and professional activities emphasize post-conflict forensic investigations, standardization of forensic practice, and the evidentiary role of forensic medicine in judicial and humanitarian accountability mechanisms.

  • As Head of Autopsy and Clinical Examinations, I am responsible for the organization, supervision, and quality assurance of medico-legal autopsies and clinical forensic examinations. The role includes determining cause, mechanism, and manner of death; conducting and reviewing injury assessments in living persons; issuing expert medico-legal opinions for judicial authorities; and ensuring compliance with national and international forensic standards. I also coordinate multidisciplinary casework, mentor forensic staff, and contribute to the development and standardization of forensic protocols.
