About

I am currently an IT consultant, however I would consider any job that involves problem solving, working through issues logically and interacting with people. I am a great believer in, although it might be considered 'old school ' now, picking up the phone and talking. In a lot of cases you avoid the typical misunderstandings that can arise through emails and pick up a lot of clues about people's intentions and character. I firmly believe in positively coaching people and making them feel good when they understand something or achieve a goal, especially if they use their own initiative to get there. Also people need the room to make mistakes, as long as they learn from them and understand how to avoid the same mistake again. I am also a firm believer in admitting when you are wrong, rather than doubling down and seeing it as a weakness, it's not, it's a strength, you can only learn and change your perspective or your ways if you are able to see and admit your errors, you will be stronger for it. I would like to lead a team that solves problems, with members in whom I can instill the confidence to think outside the box and bring unconventional ideas to the table. We would work through problems logically, methodically and with the confidence to consider new solutions, as long as they make sense. Every team needs a variety of characters, you never know when a particular trait will be the one you need to fix the problem, keeping them all focused on the goal and feeling valued is the key, the best teams know how to work hard and apply themselves when required, respect each other so that they can make the best use of each others individual skills, and know how to play hard and have fun, to let off steam when they have worked hard to achieve the task in hand. If people feel valued they will go the extra mile without thinking about it, naturally and have pride in being considered the best at what they do, which is a reward in itself.
