"I am delighted to endorse Matilda Kahotea without reservation. Matilda is a woman of exceptional integrity who consistently stands up for what she believes is right, even when doing so requires courage and conviction. She has a strong sense of justice and always acts with honesty and principle.
Matilda is deeply committed to her community, generously giving her time to support others through challenging life circumstances. She is someone who quietly steps forward whenever help is needed, expecting nothing in return.
She is highly articulate, thoughtful, and astute, with the ability to understand complex situations and respond with wisdom and compassion. Her kindness, generosity, and genuine care for others are evident in everything she does.
Matilda is an outstanding person whose character, commitment to serving others, and unwavering principles make her an asset to any organisation or community. I have no hesitation in recommending her."

"I have known Matilda Kahotea for several years going back to when our children went to school together and formed strong ties that continue today.
She is a champion advocate for our less than fortunate whanau who have been incarcerated and developed a unique programme of rehabilitation based around tikanga which wraps the whole whanau in aroha. Her approach is grounded in Te Ao Maori, drawing on values of manaakitanga, whanaungatanga and tinorangatiratanga to restore not just behaviour, but whakapapa, identity and mana.
What sets Matilda apart is her ability to walk in both worlds. She holds the trust of whanau on the ground, having guided many ex-prisoners and their families through the difficult transition back into the community. At the same time, she contributes at a governance level sitting on committees that advocate for Kaupapa Maori approaches across the justice and social sectors. She brings lived insight, cultural expertise and a clear strategic voice to those tables.
Her mahi has real outcomes: whanau who feel seen and supported, reduced re-offending, tamariki who get to grow up with their parents and communities that are safer because healing is happening. She leads with aroha, holds people to account with tika and pono, and never loses sight of the bigger vision- that our people deserve pathways grounded in who we are.
I have no hesitation in strongly recommending Matilda Kahotea for any role, or opportunity that furthers this kaupapa. She is a person of integrity, courage and has a deep committment to Maori well-being. Any organisation or community would be strenthened by her involvement.
