About

Luigi Montano, MD, PhD, UroAndrologist at Local Health Authority Salerno (ASL Salerno), Past President of Italian Society of Human Reproduction (SIRU), with PhD in Evolutionary Biology and Ecology and National qualification as Associate Professor in Urology. He has his own expertise in Environmental Pathology, Lifestyle Medicine, and Ecology. His research focuses on preventing environmental risks to reproductive health, particularly in younger generations. He is the founder and coordinator of the EcoFoodFertility project (www.ecofoodfertility.it) a multicenter interdisciplinary human biomonitoring study connecting human life-style and dietary habits to the environmental consequences of exposure to pollutants. The project integrates omics-based analyses across multiple biological matrices, with particular emphasis on human semen as a sensitive sentinel of environmental and general health, establishing an innovative model for early environmental impact assessment and primary prevention. In recent years, his investigations have focused on microplastics, leading to pioneering findings as the first researcher worldwide to document their presence in human urine, semen, and follicular fluid. He has authored numerous scientific publications and some book chapters in international journals, numerous reports and keynote speakers in national and international congresses with various prizes and awards. https://scholar.google.com/citations?view_op=list_works&hl=en&hl=en&user=hPX_7hIAAAAJ&pagesize=80 URL for web site: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Luigi-Montano-2 Scopus: https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=57191261138 Web of Science Researcher IDW-2067-201 https://www.webofscience.com/wos/author/record/W-2067-2019
