  • I am a lawyer with over 7 year’s professional experience in human rights, protection, access to justice and legal aid obtained through my work and study in Tanzania.
  • I possess a university degree in Law. I have proven management and programme development experience from International Humanitarian and Development context working with Government and UNHCR.
  • I have significant knowledge of International Human Rights Law, with stress on Refugee Law and Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement. Additionally, I have proven experience and knowledge on GBV and women rights.
  • Working as an Acting Project Manager for NRC Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) and ICLA Project Coordinator for Tanzania, I established a system and base for Legal Identity and Access to civil documentations in refugee camps in Tanzania. I managed to set-up a system where the refugee registration is now linked to birth registration. I started up ICLA in Tanzania with a very restrictive environment but eventually access. I developed ICLA strategy, technical SOPs / guidelines and Macro LFAs, I was responsible for development and management of ICLA-related funding proposals, project budgets and donor reports example UNHCR funds. I took a supervisory role and overall management of project staff, Coordinate and manage ICLA project implementation (activities, budget and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements, Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills, Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders, Provide technical direction for the ICLA programmatic strategy for 2022-2025 and beyond, including Macro LFAs and portfolio and Contingency Plan, Provide ICLA-specific input and participate in multi-sector needs assessments, including of protection risks and gaps.

  • Having worked with the Women’s Legal Aid Centre (WLAC), I started up a Project for Women We Stand: Promoting and Protecting the Rights of Refugee Women and Girls Project in Nyarugusu and Mtabila Refugee Camp based in Kasulu-Tanzania. Funded by a UK based organization WomanKind Worldwide and The Baring Foundation. Again, I successfully started up a Project of Strengthening Community Response to Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG), Harmful Tradition Practices (HTP), Child Early Forced Marriage (CEFM) in Nyarugusu, Refugee camp at Kasulu District and Kibondo Host Community and prevention of FGM in Kajiado and Tnzoia counties in Kenya implemented by FIDA organisiation under the UKAID Match. I successfully established Paralegal Units in the six (6) Districts in Kigoma region. I developed proposals, reports and tools for the implementation of the program activities included protection monitoring, advocacy, case management, capacity building and direct material support.

As a Project Coordinator at Women’s Legal Aid Centre (WLAC), Kasulu –Kigoma field office in a project based in Nyarugusu camp focusing protection and promotion of refugee rights for refugee women to a project of strengthening community response on VAWG (Violence against women and girls), eradicating HTP (Harmful tradition practices) and reducing CEFM (Child early forced marriage), in Nyarugusu refugee camp located in Kasulu District and Kibondo host community. Among duties performed include provision of legal aid to Congolese, Burundian refugees in Nyarugusu camp and to the host community (Kasulu District), attend clients’ cases and provision of legal support to paralegals, conduct trainings to the law enforcers and strengthening the work of service providers on legal framework. I have particularly trained newly established paralegal units in Kigoma and Kibondo Districts. Provision of information awareness raising through radio programmes on legal, human rights issues and GBV at Radio Kwizera in Kigoma.
