"I have been in several professional development sessions that Dr. Collins has presented. Her ideas, activities, lessons, and additional resources have had a large impact on my classroom.

Dr. Collins's lessons around gumboot and stepping are staples in my curriculum each year. As a teacher on the west side of Chicago who only teaches children of color, opportunities to incorporate learning that reflects and celebrates the identities of my students is an essential part of my classroom. Each year, many students share their knowledge of stepping and the Divine Nine when we reach this unit. Student engagement is huge, even from those who don't typically gravitate towards movement.

Dr. Collins has given me many ideas and approaches to uplifting identities of my students and celebrating them. This is invaluable, especially in the climate of today's world.
