Work experience
  •  Responsible for devising, developing, implementing and reviewing policies, procedures, mechanisms, frameworks, strategies, plans, legislation and regulations on investigation of complaints, inspection, registration and compliance
  •  Monitoring and auditing investigations and actions taken by the statutory health regulatory bodies in response to complaints raised by patients, health professionals and aggrieved parties
  •  Coordinating the implementation of joint inspection framework of public and private health facilities for registration, licensing, grading, categorization and compliance with norms and standards
  •  Monitoring the implementation of quality-of-care improvement measures which conform with evidence based best practices
  •  Liaising with the statutory health regulatory bodies in the implementation of standards for pre-registration training, education and practice to promote patient safety in health system
  •  Overseeing the assessment of health facilities and training institutions to enforce compliance and implementation of recommendations
  •  Coordinating joint inspection of health facilities for enforcement and quality improvement of care
  •  Initiating and overseeing the development of complaint procedures within national and county health facilities and respective regulatory bodies
  •  Preparing comprehensive investigations, complaints and arbitration reports
  •  Resolving complaints, disputes and arbitration from patients, health professionals and regulatory bodies
  •  Spearheading the development of mechanisms for monitoring customer satisfaction
  •  Providing advice and guidance to statutory health regulatory bodies on appropriate ways of handling arbitration and resolving disputes or conflicts
  •  Presenting papers and research findings in national/international conferences, workshops and symposia

  •  Liaising with other institutions and state agencies, building and developing strong working relationships

  • Achievements:
  • Spearheaded joint health investigations of health facilities for enforcement, compliance and quality improvement in ten regions by joint team of officers from the Kenya Health Professions Oversight Authority, Ministry of Health and the Health Regulatory Bodies resulting in improving the quality of internal operations, safeguarding the credibility of results of conformity assessment activities, improving the market image of the institutions and organizations, and the overall health system performance.
  • Developed training resources on laboratory strengthening for emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases in conjunction with the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Over 500 laboratory personnel from the 47 counties in Kenya and 9 member countries of the East Africa Community were capacity built (Physically and virtually) and that resulted in the increase in the critical mass of highly trained laboratory personnel in emergency preparedness and response and overall strengthening laboratory preparedness for response to emerging and re-emerging infectious disease outbreaks including the Covid-19 pandemic.
