"It is with great honor and privilege I recommend Josh Smith as a candidate to attend Officer Training School. Over the past year, I’ve gotten the pleasure to know and serve with Joshua as a member of my church (Greater Friendship Baptist Church-GFBC) here in Anchorage AK.

During his time as a member of GFBC Josh wasted no time getting himself plugged into where he can serve using his time and talents to support the church’s media ministry as well as being an active participant in the Young Adult Ministry.

As a servant leader, John has dedicated his invaluable time to improving existing processes in the Media ministry which deals with the audio, visual and streaming components of the church. This has resulted in better quality and effectiveness of the church’s A/V output and has greatly enhanced the worship experience for the congregation attending both in person and virtually. In addition to Josh’s exceptional A/V technical knowledge and expertise, Josh also dedicates his time serving the local community through his support of the Mobile Food Pantry effort that provides much needed fruits, vegetables, bread, milk, and other food products to low-income families.

It is my opinion that Josh would be the perfect candidate for Officer Candidate School. As an officer in the US armed forces, I have had the pleasure of working alongside amazing individuals that not only possess the qualities and intangibles of effective leadership but also balances them with distinct traits that make them true servant leaders. Josh is one of those individuals. He’s a leader that not only ensures that the mission gets done but also grows and develops others throughout that process. Josh is hardworking, disciplined, driven and charismatic but also compassionate, naturing, and empathetic. His unique set of qualities will not only lend to his success and serve him well through the training but throughout his career as well. "
