"I have had the privilege of working with Joshua Song since he was in high school through the Good Neighbor Ensemble, an organization that brings classical music to those who may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience it, including residents of nursing homes, hospitals, and underserved communities.

One moment that has stayed with me took place when we traveled to North Central Philadelphia to work with missionaries who were organizing a holiday gathering for local families facing many challenges. As concertmaster, Joshua stood before a community that was unfamiliar to him and introduced the ensemble with remarkable maturity and compassion. He said, “People think classical music is for rich people, but I believe classical music is for all people. So please enjoy, and I hope you have a great time.” He was only 17 years old.

He then led the ensemble in performance, and through his music and presence, connected deeply with the community. Since then, I have seen Joshua continue to use his gifts with purpose, including traveling to Zarqa, Jordan, where he helped lead a violin clinic for children and inspired them through music.

I continue to be inspired by Joshua’s confidence, humility, and sense of purpose in all that he does. Wherever he goes, I have no doubt that he will be an incredible asset and a meaningful presence to those around him."
