https://jenniroditi.uk In 2012 I founded Vocal Tai Chi - 'a voice life practice for the whole self'. In 2023 I delivered the first Apprenticeship in Vocal Tai Chi to 5 people who received their certificates of accomplishment in September 2023. In 2015 I founded TIC - The Improvisers' Choir - 'bend the blend'. I am the artistic director of this unique choir, one that improvises all its own music, allowing the integrity of everyone’s voice to be heard. Through film (notably our first released film Land Mass) we take our music to an immersive level, with vocal-visual storytelling and together with spoken-word poetry, we create spontaneous, freestyle choral performances to ambient, hyper-real and surreal film. Alongside this professional choir I was leading a community choir on the same principles The Open Choir and during lockdown two online choirs - The Essence Choir and the Un-Choir - together they make a suite of choirs called TIC, TOC, TEC and TUC. I have not brought the choirs back since lockdowns because I wanted to start the Apprenticeship in Vocal Tai Chi. A chapter, written by me on my work in musical leadership was recently published in The Routledge Companion to Women and Musical Leadership - the Nineteenth Century and Beyond. My chapter, number 30 is titled, Beyond Music Workshops - A Composer and a Community. Published August 13 2024. I have composed two operas for the contemporary music ensemble Lontano - The Descent of Inanna (1992) and Siddhartha Spirit Child (2001) as well as chamber and choral music, notably Devotion that Moves the Heart (conducted and recorded by David Temple) and many hundred of songs etc. I performed with my group the Roditi Quartet at Kings Place Hall 1 (2009) with a repertoire of new pieces composed by me and performed at the piano and with voice, alongside violin, cello and clarinet. After a nine-year break, I began composing again in June 2023. In January 2024, a new work emerged, The Brimming Stone, which conductor Alexander Ingram and composer Judith Weir commended to the BBC Singers. It is dedicated to Gavin Bryars, whose composition workshop I attended in June 2023. https://www.linkedin.com/in/jenni-roditi-68626aa/
