"I worked closely with Helen 2019 - 2020 at Howard Community College while I was the content strategist for the student newspaper. As our faculty advisor, Helen was beyond supportive and resourceful. With her guidance, we crafted journalistic standards, created systems for hiring and recruiting new writers, and built rapport with the staff and faculty needed. Our work is still in use and updated regularly at HCC. Additionally, Helen was an excellent advocate for us as student workers during the confusing first months of the COVID-19 pandemic, which allowed the paper to shift to remote work, covering local and campus news regarding the virus in real-time. Working with her was a priceless experience. "
