Peter Hagono is a professional Counselling Psychologist | Human Rights Defender | Trainer of Trainers. He is the co-author of a research project; 'Understanding Barriers to Access and Utilization of Cervical Cancer screening services among women living with HIV in Kenya and Uganda, a cross-sectional study.; "https://www.clinical-medicine.panafrican-med-journal.com/content/article/9/45/full and; a research abstract; “Increasing Visibility, Uptake and Retention of Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Users among Men who Have Sex with Men (MSM)” in Nairobi, Kenya. Mr Hagono is the Chairman of the AHEA (Appreciation for Activists and Human Rights Defenders in Eastern Africa) awards steering committee, in recognition and appreciation of outstanding activists and human rights defenders who seek the promotion and protection of civil and political rights as well as the promotion, protection and realization of economic, social and cultural rights across the 8 Eastern Africa countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, Ethiopia and The Democratic Republic of Congo). Peter was also trained at the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, South Africa; the International Human Rights Training Program (IHRTP), Montreal, Canada; the Leitner Summer Human Rights Institute (SHRI) at Fordham Law School, New York, United States and, the 6th East Africa Human Rights Program (EAHRP 2021), Naivasha, Kenya.
