Work experience
  • Event planning: I led the planning for ICRISAT Kenya’s 50-year
  • anniversary by coordinating communication and admin activities. The celebration was hybrid and included an exhibition by farmers.
  • Media relations: I liaised with the media for coverage of ICRISAT activities in Kenya, organized media appearances for ICRISAT’s country director and other researchers, prepared info packages for the media, kept an updated media contact list, and pitched features to the media for publication to enhance ICRISAT’s public profile.
  • Content creation: production and circulation of press releases to media houses; internal newsletter, photographs and videos through social media (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, Flicker, and YouTube); and fliers, brochures, banners, and booklets.
  • Storytelling and documentation: I developed and circulated ICRISAT’s research success stories, best practices, and impact stories on various ICRISAT project activities which were published on ICRISAT and its affiliate project (AVISA) websites.
  • Brand management: I ensured ICRISAT, donors, and partners’ branding guidelines are consistent and adhered to by stakeholders, media, and consultants.
  • Enhancing Visibility-I provided communication support to ICRISAT’s country representatives in the other East and Southern Africa countries (Tanzania, Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe) especially development of communication materials during ICRISAT public events and activities.
  • Program support: I worked with program teams from various ICRISAT projects to increase ICRISAT’s visibility through communication and branding, and also supported them in project logistics during events.
