  • The Area Coordinator was based in El Fasher City and was responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of COOPI’s programmes in North Darfur state of Sudan thus provided high-level representation towards external stakeholders, as well as leadership to both program and support teams in the field. The programmes intervention covered Environment, Disaster Risk Reduction, Food Security & Livelihoods, Resilience, WASH and Shelter with funding from ECHO, SHF, EU, AICS and WFP worth annual budget of USD 1,867,896. The programme was implemented to meet the needs of populations who are regularly affected by drought where local communities were supported with access to food, protection of livelihoods and increased access to basic services such as sanitation and clean water. The programme further focused on reducing poverty and building long-term resilience of local communities with targeted humanitarian interventions. The Area Coordinator was the key representative for COOPI with local and national stakeholders, especially government agencies, partners, beneficiaries and other NGO's for regular, quality and effective communications to maintain good relations. The Area Coordinator ensured fair, accountable and transparent management of programme, finance and human resources (97) national staff with 4 expatriates and promoted a learning environment for staff and the organization, equally took the responsibility for compliance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for safety, security and general operations in North Darfur region.
