Gintarė Barisaitė-Mitkuvienė is a choral professional, conductor, and educator actively engaged in Lithuania’s choral culture. She holds a Master’s degree in Choral Conducting from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and has consistently developed her professional competencies through international masterclasses and competitions. Her early musical education at the National Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis School of Arts laid a strong artistic foundation, which is now reflected in her diverse conducting and pedagogical activities. Currently, Gintarė works as a choirmaster and singer with the State Choir “Vilnius,” serves as choirmaster of the Vytautas Magnus University Education Academy choir “Ave Vita,” leads the SEB Bank choir, and, since 2026, has been the choir director of the Vilnius University alumni song and dance ensemble “Jievaras.” She is also a member of the girls’ group “Monos,” actively participating in concert activities. In her conducting practice, she combines work with both professional and amateur ensembles, striving for high artistic quality and the strengthening of community spirit. In recent years, Gintarė has steadily expanded her professional activities: she participates in international conducting courses, including interpretation seminars with renowned conductors, and is actively involved in choral culture projects in Lithuania and abroad. She has conducted at regional choir festivals and participated in international initiatives. Together with her team, she won a competition to organize the Song Day of the 2028 Song Festival. Her activities encompass not only conducting but also pedagogy—she gives private conducting lessons, leads masterclasses, and organizes concert tours and creative projects for choirs. Her professionalism, stage experience, and active involvement in choral culture processes position her as one of the emerging generation of conductors contributing to the development of contemporary Lithuanian choral art.
