Dear Sir/Madam:

It is my pleasure to recommend Yinrui (George) Feng, whom I have taught in my online Economics, Investing, European History, Business, and American History classes for the last four years.
George has demonstrated outstanding effort and growth throughout the years, and consistently brings a great energy to class.
George has proficiency in online learning, which would prove an asset for him in any learning environment. Tech fits him like a glove, and George is adroit at all matters IT.
I am confident that he will continue to display the same commitment and diligence in everything he does. I highly recommend George for admission to your school.
I am a veteran educator and published author, with 20 years’ classroom experience in the Philadelphia (PA), New Orleans (LA), and Miami-Dade (FL) School Districts, coupled with seven years of online teaching at the high school and college levels.
I have seldom seen a student demonstrate such a growth mindset, and George has inspired his peers to adopt that valuable perspective, too. George contributes to our classroom environment as one in which all students can feel supported and able to ask questions.
George is co-founder and co-host of the International Secondary Student Economics Summit, appearing online from August 2022 until the present. This online economic summit connects students from New Zealand, China, Korea, and the U.S. with economists from prestigious institutions including Harvard, Dartmouth, Yonsei and Peking University.
George possesses remarkable speaking, reading, and writing English language skills, and is able to comprehend directly in English. I must report that George’s demonstrative array of English skills is superior to many of my native English language students here in the United States.
Allow me to add some specifics on our curriculum:
For our European History class, we read the classic Europe: A History by Professor Norman Davies (1798 pp.).
For our Investing class, we have read Stock Market Investing for Beginners by Tycho Press. Since I have also held a stockbroker’s license since 2016, I have supplemented this course with my own extensive materials. George and our Investing students have studied stocks; bonds; cryptocurrency; mutual funds; options, calls, and puts; and foreign exchange (FOREX) markets.

In our Economics course, the text for George and his cohort was The
Economics Book (352 pp., DK Press). We covered all major economic theories, such as The Austrian School and Keynesian Economics.

I laud George’s charitable work over the years. He co-established and co-organized a charity event to donate to a special education organization, Promised Land, in Shenzhen, China for more than three years in a row.
The charity sponsors an online fundraiser in which students present their academic research—providing participants a platform for academic collaboration and sharing.
George and his brother Daniel organized presenters from four countries (China, U.S., Australia, New Zealand) to present their research papers online for charity. George, Daniel, and their supporters have raised over $2500 USD per year for Promised Land. Their charity work continues.
George is a brilliant, reliable, good-humored student who supports others in and out of the classroom. He is a pleasure to have in class, and his positive attitude and belief in himself, even in the face of difficulty, is an immensely admirable asset.
One final note on this well-rounded student. Over the years I have enjoyed videos of George’s virtuoso playing the viola. At the conclusion of this letter, I’ve added a few websites which, I believe, serve to demonstrate George’s musical expertise.*
I'm confident that George will continue to demonstrate the same diligence, perseverance, and academic excellence that he shows to myself and his peers. I highly recommend George for admission to your school. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions.
Sincerely,
Richard F. Hubbard, M.Ed.
