About

I am a design researcher at the University of Parma. I specialize in applying systemic design to enhance the sustainability of production systems, focusing primarily on home appliances and food systems. I hold a PhD in Management Production and Design, after spending six months as a guest researcher at the TU Delft, faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, where I combined my eco-design background with insights arising from the internet of things (IoT). My research focused on developing innovative home systems through a Systemic Design approach, leveraging IoT technologies in the early stages of product design to lower resources consumption and increase user value. I am dedicated to studying the entire product lifecycle, encompassing supply chain evaluation, maintenance strategies, upgrade potential, and effective end-of-life management. My work encompasses various projects, including sustainable food packaging and systemic design applications in agri-food value chains. For more information about my research: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Eleonora_Fiore ---- I'm looking for a PhD Candidate in Product Design and Circular Economy🌍🔄 Are you passionate about product design with a maker spirit? We are looking for an innovation-driven designer for the PhD project "Circular product design in domestic context. The household appliance system." 🔍Description: The PhD project aims to promote optimized reuse and second life scenarios (primarily reuse and repair, but also regeneration and upgrading) through product design to eliminate waste from WEEE (Large household appliances categories R1 and R2). The project involves experimenting with new products involving all stakeholders in the household appliance sector, systematically reevaluating current networks and processes to achieve a distributed production model that is more adaptable, flexible, and resilient, promoting wider adoption of repair and end-of-life postponement practices. 🔧Candidate Tasks: Rethink production scenarios, products, or product-service systems where design is a strategic tool to rethink, reduce, reuse, repair,... at various scales and levels of engagement. Focus on improving product use and end-of-life phases. 🎓Requirements: Bachelor's degree in product design or related fields. Master's degree in design. 📍Location: Parma 📅, Italy Application deadline: From 12:00 on July 3, 2024, to 13:00 on July 25, 2024.
