About

I am Edmond Twagirayezu, a dedicated zoologist and conservationist based in Rwanda with a strong focus on freshwater macroinvertebrates, mollusks, and aquatic ecosystem health. I currently serve as a Research Fellow at the Center of Excellence in Biodiversity and Natural Resource Management (CoEB), where I contribute to biodiversity research, conservation initiatives, and student mentorship. My work combines field-based taxonomy with advanced tools such as environmental DNA (eDNA), Molecular Network Analysis (MENA), R Studio, and GIS to support data-driven environmental monitoring and ecosystem restoration. I am also pursuing a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Development Studies, specializing in Environmental Economics and Natural Resources Management, which strengthens my ability to bridge science with policy. I am passionate about using science to inform environmental policy and conservation strategies, particularly in the face of climate change. I’m now seeking opportunities where I can apply my expertise in freshwater ecology, biodiversity assessment, and data analysis to contribute to impactful conservation programs, research collaborations, or environmental policy work at national or international levels.

  • Edmond Twagirayezu is a Rwandan zoologist, Master of environemntal science, and research fellow at the Center of Excellence in Biodiversity and Natural Resource Management (CoEB). He specializes in freshwater macroinvertebrates, mollusks, and water quality analysis, using these organisms to monitor ecosystem health. He applies advanced methods like environmental DNA (eDNA) and Molecular Network Analysis (MENA), along with tools such as R Studio and GIS, to support biodiversity conservation and ecosystem monitoring.
  • His work also focuses on climate change adaptation and sustainable natural resource management. Edmond has contributed to national-level environmental flow assessments in partnership with the Rwanda Water Board and FAO, and he actively supports policy dialogues and scientific outreach.
