Derese Alehegn is an Ethiopian researcher and Ph.D. student in Community Development at Hawassa University. His research focuses on the effectiveness of community policing in enhancing public safety and humanitarian efforts within Addis Ababa. With academic backgrounds in history, educational administration, and business management, Derese has published works internationally in multiple languages. He is dedicated to exploring the structural relationships between policing practices, community partnerships, and citizen participation.

  • Derese Alehegn has extensive experience in academic research, particularly in the areas of community development, community policing, and public safety. As a Ph.D. candidate at Hawassa University, he has conducted in-depth studies on the structural dynamics of community policing in Addis Ababa, focusing on citizen participation, partnerships, and institutional practices. His research addresses real-world challenges such as lack of trust, poor training, and political influence in law enforcement.
  • He has also contributed to scholarly work on humanitarian response, crime prevention, and grassroots governance, with findings presented in both local and international journals.
