  • Key Responsibilities:
  •  Create and promote awareness on the benefits of using improved crop varieties of Maize, Soybean, Cowpea and Rice by distribution of seed-drops.
  •  Facilitate and organize Training programs for selected seed companies on production and processing of Breeders/Foundation seeds of Maize, Soybean, Cowpea and Rice for the project.
  •  Establish demo plots and organize field day for farmers and selected seed companies in Nigeria.
  •  Build capacity of partners and project staff in the work plan, budget development and in monitoring and reporting of project progress and financial expenditures in adherence to donor and IITA’s guidelines.
  •  Support internal and donor-directed audit processes ensuring that all recommendations are fully implemented.
  •  Support the recruitment of key project staff (consultants) and motivate team members to attain program goals,
  •  Organize and coordinate program meetings, workshops, and team-building events that promote project cohesion, and disseminate project outputs to partners and stakeholders.
  •  Provide Technical Backstopping to the Seed Companies.
  •  Facilitate and ensure field supervisions and inspection for certification by officers of NASC and internal quality control team.
  •  Implement a M&E and MIS for AGRA fiduciary issues (Procurement, Disbursement, Financial Management)
  •  Provide M&E support to AGRA Implementing Agency
  •  Provide Fiduciary functions for the project.
  • Key Achievements.
  •  16.7MT of breeder seeds (12mt, maize, 1.2mt for soybean, 2.5mt of rice and 1.0mt for cowpea) produced in 3 years.
  •  Quality seed production and processing training programs for over 120 out-grower farmers and 10 seed companies organized.
  •  40 demo plots established with 150 out growers in collaboration with IAR, NCRI, AfricaRice and 10 Seed companies so far.
  •  75 seed-drops for the 4 major crops distributed for awareness creation.
  •  3 field days organized with 10 seed companies and Farmers.
  •  2 technical backstopping to 10 seed companies each year.
  •  3 field supervisions and inspection for certification by officers of NASC and internal quality control team per year.
