  • Piloted the use of m-health to increase uptake and create demand for maternal and child health services in established community health units. This involved setting up community referral desks at health facilities manned by community health workers. Each referral desk is provided with phone airtime to enable the CHW on duty to contact expectant mothers and those with children under one year to come for antenatal care and immunization. Registers are developed to list expectant mothers and those with children under one year. Training of community health workers (CHWs) and Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs) using approved national CHW and CHEWs training curricula to ensure delivery of quality health services and envisaged in Kenya’s community strategy.
