I completed my MSc in Medical Physics and my BSc in Applied Physics at the National University of Science & Technology. I am looking for medical physics residency opportunities to satisfy the IAEA's criteria for clinically qualified medical physicists.

  • This was part of my two-year Medical Physics MSc programme. I was part of a team of medical physicists that worked hand-in-hand with radiologists, oncologists, physicians, and nurses to give cancer patients a flawless treatment. I performed quality control tests on treatment and diagnostic machines on a daily, weekly, bi-weekly and monthly basis. I also taught radiation protection to staff members.

  • The radiotherapy and nuclear medicine departments focus on the diagnosis and treatment of cancer while delivering a minimal and effective radiation dose, which is known as the ALARA principle. A physicist in such a place works hand in hand with radiation therapists, oncologists, radiographers, nurses, and general hands in delivering patient care, education, and treatment. Here are some duties I performed:
  • 1. Running operational tests on these machines: CT scanner machine, linac, high-dose afterloader, gamma camera.
  • 2. Performance of radiation dose calculations as part of external beam radiation therapy treatment planning.
  • 3. performing checks to find out if radiation protection measures are operational as a radiation safety measure.
