Baraka Paul Issabu
Issabu, is a visionary pianist, music educator, Researcher, composer, arranger, and producer. His profound connection to the world of music has catapulted him to the forefront of Tanzania's music scene, where his passion pours into every performance, crafting mesmerizing melodies that leave audiences spellbound.
Inspired by the rich rhythms of Afrojazz, the eclectic beats of afro-fusion, and the timeless elegance of jazz, Issabu's artistic expression is a masterful blend of cultural elements. This unique fusion of styles has been shaped by his academic pursuits, which began at the University of Dar es Salaam, where he studied Music in the Department of Creative Arts from 2006 to 2009. With an insatiable thirst for knowledge, he took a significant leap in 2023 by enrolling in the Bachelor’s and master’s program of the Global Music department at the prestigious Sibelius Academy in Finland.
In 2015, Issabu joined the East Africa Global Music Campus. Organized by the renowned Global Music Academy in Berlin, this program empowered talented young musicians with essential skills in performance, composition, notation, documentation, and cultural transmission. Issabu is also the founder and Executive Director of Action Music Academy, a groundbreaking music institution in Dar es Salaam created in collaboration with the Global Music Academy Berlin. (www.amtz.org)
Throughout his career, Issabu has had the privilege of collaborating with a diverse array of local Tanzanian and international artists. His captivating performances have been featured at prestigious events such as the Jahazi Literary & Jazz Festival, Sauti za Busara, Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF), Poetry Addiction, and Fiesta. Issabu has left an indelible mark on the Tanzanian music landscape, inspiring a new generation of musicians to follow in his footsteps.
Issabu continues to push the boundaries of musical expression, weaving a rich tapestry of sound that transcends borders and cultures. Currently, he is working on his highly anticipated debut album, a culmination of his artistic vision and creative processes. This forthcoming album promises to showcase Issabu's unique blend of styles and cementing his position as pioneer of the style. Issabu's artis and the tic work release of his album attempts to be a testament to the power of music to unite, inspire, and uplift.
